Born in Pennsylvania 1979, Jesse Philips is currently living and working in Albuquerque, NM. He drew his early inspiration from comic books, Graffiti and cartoons which have remained a major influence on his work. While attending college at MCAD, Jesse spent a year studying at the Sozosha College of Design in Osaka, Japan where he became fascinated with graphic design. Jesse returned home with an interest in combining illustration with design. Creating Gig posters offered him an opportunity to to do just that while also allowing him to maintain a high level of artistic freedom.

More about the artist:

Gabz graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań with a Master's degree

in Graphic Arts and Drawing.

After the graduation, he first worked as an illustrator and later as a graphic designer for various advertising agencies. In 2005, he went freelance and hasn't looked back since.

In the early years, Gabz's personal art work  revolved around rather dark themes.

A conscious effort to make his work more broadly appealing and optimistic in its tone has coincided with an increasing focus on his favorite way

of creating images: he initially works with pencil and/or pen, before the hand-drawn art gets perfected on his iMac.

He also works with vectors, watercolor, acrylic and oil paint. Gabz majors in graphic design and enjoys playing with custom-made typography.

Whether it is a personal or a commissioned work, Gabz aims to keep his works attractive, intriguing and captivating in terms of technique, bright colors and the whole concept.

BARONESS by Rhys Cooper

Under license from Hasbro, Inc., , Acidfree Gallery is pleased to present BARONESS, a limited edition screen print by Rhys Cooper based on the iconic character from the G.I. JOE brand. BARONESS serves as the COBRA organizations  intelligence officer and lieutenant to COBRA COMMANDER. With long black hair, black-rimmed glasses, and a black leather outfit, BARONESS is a dark, skilled, femme fatale whose beauty is matched only by her ruthlessness.

This will be the first in a series of three COBRA prints by Rhys Cooper. Designed to work in conjunction with the Domaradzki GIJOE prints set, these will all look great together or mix and match your favorite heroes and villains.

NYCC info

Looking forward to seeing everyone at comic con! We have had quite a few questions so we will try to hit them all here...

•  We will take credit cards and cash at NYCC.  We CANNOT accept American Express, sorry, out credit card company just doesnt do it...  (We have nothing against AMEX or their customers:-) Visa, MC and Discover...

• NYC sales tax, we will have to charge sales tax since we are selling in NYC. 

•  Regular versions you can buy multiples of each per transaction in case you are a PB for someone. Whalen variant we ask that you only buy 1 per transaction. Since these are very limited and we have gotten a hundred emails about them we can only allow 1 per transaction.

• We will sell limited numbers of prints each day so be there first or check twitter, we will try to let you know how many are left for the day... 

•  We will be releasing all of these prints in limited numbers online on 10/15. Time will be announced via facebook, twitter and hopefully the mailing list if we can get them all in sync! We will announce the drop time for 10/15 on Sunday...

• Yes the metallics look amazing! When we first saw the whalen variant print, there was silence in the room, it's just that good. We will have one hanging in the Booth, 1681, so stop by and see in person!

• Sorry, no pre-selling, we have had a record number of presell requests, just can't do it. Your offers have been VERY generous so we like the excitement!

• We will be giving away a Whalen variant at the show. You have to stop by and ask how you can win that gem.

• We also may be previewing the next print in the series at the show, so stay tuned.

The initial print release kicks off on October 11, 2012, at New York Comic Con (October 11-14, 2012, New York, NY) and continues with online sales at http://www.acidfreegallery.com throughout 2012 and 2013. More about Laurent Durieux: Born in Belgium, the holy land of beers and cartoons, Laurent Durieux has been a professional illustrator for 20 years. While teaching Graphic design at the College of Advertising and Design in Brussels, he participated to numerous exhibitions all over Europe and is recognized by renowned fellow artists like Ever Meulen, François Schuiten, Avril and Beb deum to name a few. Laurent’ vintage (yet modern) style is influenced by the 30’s, 40's and 50’s era and has developed a fascination for “the Future that never was”. In 2010 he was honoured to have been chosen by Canal+ France to create the CGI short film “Hellville”, produced by the famous Director Jean-Jacques Beineix (Betty Blue, Diva...). Critically acclaimed by Variety, “Hellville” was selected at the Annecy, Porto and Chicago International Film Festivals. Laurent is proud to be among, in the word of the prestigious magazine “ARCHIVES”, the 200 best illustrators worldwide.

In 2012, Laurent was approached by legendary alternative poster publisher Mondo (Austin, TX) as well as Los Angeles based poster publisher Dark Hall Mansion to create several licensed edition posters for classic titles like Gigantor (TetsuGin 28-go), Snoopy, King Kong (Martin Scorcese's The film Foundation), The Iron Giant and the Amazing Spider-man...
